PermSelect-MedArray to resume sponsored research with the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) Amgen Bioprocessing Center

We are happy to announce that we have resumed our sponsored study work with the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI, Amgen Bioprocessing Center) to conduct cell culture bioreactor runs using our PermSelect membrane gas exchanger. The purpose is to establish process guidelines for aerating bioreactors using bubble free sparging, instead of conventional bubble sparging, which can be challenging in cases where cell sensitivity, foaming, and insufficient oxygen transfer capacity are problematic.

Our earlier preliminary studies were very encouraging, with results suggesting that bubble free sparging using a membrane gas exchanger is a viable and effective approach to controlling dissolved oxygen (DO) and other gases in a bioreactor.

We plan to share results throughout the study with the goal of providing useful operating guidelines to potential customers who can benefit from the bubble free sparging aerating approach.
