Liquid Dissolved-Gas Control in the Life Sciences

Are bubbles a problem in your upstream and downstream processes? Consider using a PermSelect membrane gas exchanger to eliminate bubbles in your process fluids. The table below provides examples in the Life Sciences where bubbles are undesirable, and a PermSelect membrane gas exchanger has been used to prevent the formation of bubbles by either degassing the liquid or adding gas to the process liquid without forming bubbles.

Downstream Process

Upstream Process

Continuous in-line degassing of process liquids to prevent bubble formation

Bubble-free sparging for bioreactor DO control

Liquid Degassing Setup

Prevent bubbles in:

  • Medical Devices
              Ultrasonic therapy
              Ultrasound Tomography (UST)
              Multisonic Ultracleaning
              In-vitro diagnostic equipment
  • Bioprocessing equipment
  • Drug filling and delivery
              Remove dissolved O2
  • Ultrapure water
Removing CO2 prior to Electrodeionization (EDI)
Bubble free sparging

  • No sparger
  • No bubbles
  • No antifoam needed
  • No aggressive agitation needed
  • Minimal shear
  • Independent control of DO and DCO2
  • Unconstrained KLa (O2 and CO2)
